Volume 15 Issue 10
Make no mistake; we are in a war against false religions, bad ideas, heretical concepts and outright lies. The battle is for the mind. The fight is for the souls of our youth, and we are on the front lines.
Tolerance is the buzzword, but in truth the only religion that is tolerated is the one that teaches that nothing is for sure, all religions are valid, all ideas are okay, nothing is wrong or right. Say this and you’re okay. Say something different and you will unleash untold hatred.
Take the case of Franklin Graham (son of Billy Graham) who dared to state, “The God of Islam is not the same God. He’s not the Son of God of the Christian or Judeo-Christian faith. It’s a different God, and I believe it is a very evil and wicked religion.” For this he is being assailed by the press for generating anti-Muslim hatred. He is a hate-monger, they say. Actually, he is a truth teller, dealing with a woefully theologically illiterate media.
Giving up the Christian doctrine because one is afraid to confront the opposition is a sorry state of affairs. Pop religion that is more about sociology than theology is missing the point. Preachers are not to be politicians but truth-tellers. The truth of the Christ, the cross, the life, is the issue.
True Apostolic doctrine, when believed and received, changes the heart and the living. It’s an interchange. Islam, for an example, offers no interchange. In fact, Christianity is perhaps the only religion in the world that offers freedom. Freedom from sin (the Bible’s definition of freedom) is not legalism. Islam is pure legalism. Imposing the Koranic law is the chief objective of Islamic rulers.
Christianity changes the heart and the mind. It frees men from the oppression of sin. The virtue flows from the mind. The true man of God is self-submitted to the will of God. He is not force fed; he is a self-motivated searcher of God’s Spirit.
The truth liberates men from sin this is the main reason we should never compromise the truth for the convenient posturing of pop religion. We have a mission. We are under the commission of Jesus Christ. We must preach the Word. We’re not trying to get along. Let God be true and every man a liar (Romans 3:2). Without convictions, dear reader, our children are going to be lost to this new-day, washed out, non-Biblical, non-doctrinal, self-defined form of Christianity. Remember, bad theology leads to bad behavior.
