Proverbs 12:25 – “Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad.” Anxiety causes depression, and depression can lead to suicidal thoughts. How do we overcome these toxic thoughts?
Romans 12:1-2 (NLT) “And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
We can overcome toxic thinking by being transformed by God’s good word! When a person is overwhelmed by anxiety, fear, stress, depression or suicidal thoughts, they are not focusing on God’s truth. In my nationwide counseling, I help people look at their situation through the eye of God’s Word. We replace the toxic thinking (planted by Satan) with God’s truth. There is always a root cause for anxiety and depression.
The hurting person looks at life through distorted toxic thinking that I call emotional/spiritual tunnel vision. They become narrowly focused on their painful issues and the devil uses this tactic to steal their joy, kill their God-worth, and destroy their faith and hope in God. We peel the onion of depression off one layer at a time.
I have a teaching video on this subject on ‘Carol Clemans YouTube’ channel. I did the teaching live (June 4) on my Carol Theobald Clemans Facebook page. Within a short time, it had 1,700 viewers. Please view it and share with others. This is a subject that is silent in the church. I will post it on www.carolclemans.org, also. Be sensitive to others. God’s truth applied to our hearts/minds will make (it is a process) us free!
