Building Dreams
Tupelo Children’s Mansion is excited to announce plans for a major renovation and expansion to Freeman Hall, which will feature a new Tenney Gymnatorium in honor of T. F. and Thetus Tenney. Originally constructed in 1975, Freeman Hall (named in honor of E. L. and Nona Freeman) is currently a multi-purpose facility housing a small chapel, half-court gymnasium, classroom, and administrative offices.
Because of the increasing number of children in our care and anticipated growth in the near future, we have outgrown both the current chapel and gymnasium. Recently, the Mississippi Department of Health, in a glowing review of the campus and operations, increased the capacity of TCM to 120 children! The new Tenney Gymnatorium will provide ample room for indoor recreation, as well as sufficient seating for church services, graduations, banquets, and other special events.
A beautiful new two-story lobby with a clock tower in the Chambers Courtyard will connect Hansford Hall and Freeman Hall, providing an entrance for the Tenney Gymnatorium, Hansford Hall and the administrative offices. A new classroom for the Haven of Hope girls’ program is also included in the plans.
The 2022 TCM theme will be “Building Dreams!” These two words encompass everything that we do at the Mansion with your help. A donation to the Tenney-Freeman Project will help us build dreams for the Mansion children. Go to mansionkids.org or scan the QR code provided. Construction crews are on-site! Stay tuned for continual updates regarding this exciting renovation and expansion.
