My ‘heartbeat’ is teaching/counseling the Word of God for spiritual, emotional and relational growth. It’s birthed from 50 years of studying and sharing His Word. As a Certified Pastoral Counselor for 22 years, I’ve been helping people with their emotional wounds. Salvation removes our sins, but it does not erase our memories or emotions.
Isaiah 61 tells us that Jesus Christ came to bring the ‘good news’ and to heal the broken hearts, set the captives free and comfort those who mourn, etc. Wounded hearts can have distorted thoughts regarding what has happened in their lives. They define who they are through the grid of their pain.
Emotional/spiritual healing happens when the wounded heart understands God’s interpretation about the facts of their lives. God-based teaching/counseling helps them be ‘transformed by renewing their minds’ with God’s truth.
Through teaching God’s truth to your church, the wounded can be healed, sexual purity for all ages can be fortified, marriages can be loving and God-centered, parenting skills can be taught and holiness of the heart becomes the foundation for all truth because God said, “Be ye holy for I am holy.”
