What Is a God Conscious State Of Mind?
How can I live for God to bring Him glory? Micah 6:8 has the answer: 1) Do justly – do what is right in the sight of God at all times. 2) Love mercy – God is merciful to us so let us have mercy and compassion on others. 3) Walk humbly with thy God – giving all the glory to God in all we do. This is a definition of how to live in a God-conscious state of mind!
Another description is being Holy Ghost-controlled. This is allowing God to rule and reign over every thought, feeling and action! Romans 12: 1 & 2: Paul is begging (beseeching), instructing us to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto the Lord which is our reasonable worship. Verse two says be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by renewing our mind, that we may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God. The Word instructs us to do all we do heartily as unto the Lord – every action to please God is worship to Him.
If we all obey the two above passages of God’s truth, we will have love, joy and peace in our hearts with God and others. How? Because we are allowing the Fruit of the Spirit complete control, being longsuffering-patient, kind, gentle, good, faithful and having self-control toward others in every circumstance.
In my teaching for churches/conferences and counseling (nationwide by phone/Skype – (636) 448-0121), I help believers understand how to put this ‘God-conscious state of mind’ into daily practice. We cannot departmentalize our walk with God separate from our actions! Paul told us we are bought with a high price (the Lord’s death on the cross): therefore glorify God in our body and spirit which are God’s – 1 Cor. 6:20. Do all your actions glorify God?
