Keeping ourselves in proper alignment can be quite challenging when we do not understand spiritual order. When we reflect on the term “spiritual order” we first think of God, then man following God’s lead, and third, the woman following man’s lead. But have we thought of how spiritual order works for us as an individual? Let’s learn more about this.
We are a three-part being: our human spirit, our soul, and our body. Our human spirit should be ignited or made alive when we experience the infilling of the Holy Ghost. Our soul consists of the part of our brain which houses our will, emotions, memories, and our five senses (sight, hearing, taste, touch, and smell). And finally, we have our physical body. We are made up of three parts and all three parts strive to be in the lead. How do we keep our three-part being in the correct spiritual order? Let’s reword the previous sentence and say, “Who is calling the shots in our lives… is it our spirit, soul, or body?” Spiritual order within our three-part being is the key to keeping ourselves in a balanced alignment to live a successful life in Christ Jesus.
Notice in 1 Thessalonians 5:23 the order in which the spirit, soul, and body are listed: “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and [I pray God] your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” We must submit our bodies to our soul, our soul submitted to our spirit, and our spirit submitted to the Holy Ghost. When we embrace this concept of spiritual order/alignment, we will gain spiritual growth, protection, and power in the Holy Ghost.
It is a daily choice in keeping ourselves in the proper spiritual alignment. Galatians 5:16 says that by walking in the Spirit, we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. If we do not walk in the Spirit, we will fulfill the lusts of the flesh. When we think of spiritual order and embrace its concept, our heart, mind, and spirit cannot help but sing, “Victory, Victory Shall Be Mine!” Go ahead! Get yourself in alignment! You will be glad you did.
